"Ascott Gardens is located in Orange and is an ultra modern aged care facility with quality inclusions providing quality care by trained dedicated staff. The hostel provides 24-hour residential care to 62 residents. The Hostel comprises five separate wings linked together by a central area comprising offices - library - chapel - hair salon and a resident and staff gym all accessed on one level with spacious corridors. The facility is set amongst lovely gardens and outdoor walking areas. Two wings provide care for people with dementia - each consisting of 12 rooms with lounge - dining and activity areas. Both wings are securely fenced providing a safe area for outdoor enjoyment. Residents have access to free Wi-Fi. We also provide a fully furnished 2-bedroom unit (Amber Cottage) adjacent to Ascott Gardens for use by ?out of town family members and friends who visit residents. Rooms are fitted with phone - TV & computer outlets and individual reverse cycle air conditioning is installed in each room. The rooms are sunny with large windows looking out over landscaped gardens. The area is staffed 24 - 7 - in addition all rooms have 24 - 7 call buttons a ensuring that the highest level of supervision is provided at all times.

Common Area Details:
Three spacious north facing light filled breakfast - sitting rooms adjoining each cottage. These common rooms have their own cosy gas log-fire and to one side - a modern TV (wall mounted) complete with comfortable lounge chairs - making this a small intimate area for residents to visit with families or just sit quietly on their own. Well appointed welcoming large central dining room - tables seat up to 4 or if desired can be moved to accommodate large groups. To one side is the kitchen with servery - to the north side is a lounge area with glass doors and windows leading out onto a paved seating area overlooking a beautiful rose garden. Also off this area is our activity room - chapel. There is a one-bedroom suite within the facility available for relatives to stay (short term) at times when their loved one is ill or approaching end of life. We also have a raised garden bed tendered to by our residents along with our Horticulturalist. Residents are able to provide the kitchen with home

Specific Features:
The common rooms are a combination of vinyl and carpet. The facility has large picture windows throughout with cathedral windows in the lounge looking out onto a covered outdoor paved area and landscaped rose garden beyond. All ensuites are equiped with quality fittings - non slip flooring and have nurse-call buttons. Common areas have reverse cycle air conditioning - wide corridors with hand rails and are painted in soft warm theme colours ie "Magnolia" - "Lavender" etc to reflect the name of each area. Meals are prepared on site in our modern purpose built kitchens and menus are developed in consultation with the residents and our Nutritionist. We have a well equiped laundry on site for all linen and resident clothing - residents are able to place items requiring laundering in the laundry bag provided and items are returned in a timely manner clean and pressed.

On offer is a range of social programs designed to meet the recreational - spiritual and cultural needs of our residents. There is a bus outing for residents and a people mover deployed for smaller intimate group outings. Our "Cafe" opens twice monthly for residents and their families - church services are conducted - and special days are organised - eg Melbourne Cup - St Patricks Day - etc. We regularly hold birthday parties and events such as special "High Teas" where the residents enjoy dressing up for the occasion. The RN Clinic operates daily for any resident that may wish to see the nurse. There is a secure under-cover gopher bay provided.
