Room Description:
Our hostel was opened in 1994 and has recently been refurbished. The single rooms are centrally heated and cooled and have pleasant ensuite bathrooms. We have electric beds which can be adjusted for resident comfort - and the rooms feature built in robes. Residents are encouraged and helped to bring small items of furniture and personal belongings such as quilts and doona covers - photos - paintings and ornaments - to help them settle in and feel at home. We are happy to help with cleaning and arranging these personal belongings. We know small things matter.
Room Size:
30 Sqm
Common Area Details:
Large screen televisions are available in one of the lounge rooms - while other areas are reserved for quiet reading - conversation and card playing. Meals are cooked fresh on site and served in our tastefully furnished dining rooms with residents sitting with companions of their choice on tables for four. Residents likes and dislikes - including cultural preferences - are considered at every meal time - and there is always a choice on the menu. In addition - we like to hold culinary theme days - with special event catering.
Specific Features:
IDHS is set in spacious landscaped grounds and bushland with many small courtyards and distinct gardens - including a BBQ area. Green thumb residents can potter in high rise garden beds for vegetable and flower growing - or keep their own pots of herbs and plants outside their rooms or in the courtyards.
Additional Care Info:
Our lifestyle and leisure team offer a diverse and entertaining range of activities for those residents who are interested. For instance - residents are encouraged and helped to attend local community events like the Blue Eucy Festival (after the gold rush Inglewood became famous for eucalyptus oil production) and the Rheola Charity Carnival. Computer and internet access is available for residents and there are other activities - like cooking - compiling a recipe book - knitting (join the Dancing Needles Club!) - sewing or participating in the annual concert.
