Residents can pay for their accommodation by a refundable deposit - a daily payment or a combination of both. A refundable deposit is a lump sum payment - a daily payment accrues daily and is paid periodically and a combination payment includes a partial lump sum and daily payments.

Room Description:
The bedrooms in The Pines have been designed to minimise confusion and maximise independence and comfort for residents with dementia. Residents are encouraged to bring their own furniture - soft furnishings and mementos to make their rooms familiar and comfortable. If that is not possible - we provide them with a bed - a bedside table - and a chair. Each of the bedrooms at The Pines has a window looking out onto the garden area and a built-in wardrobe. The bedrooms also have television and landline telephone ports - a safe heater under the window - a nurse call point by the bed and passive motion sensors at the bed - the entrance to the bedroom and the ensuite bathroom. All the bedrooms in The Pines have an ongoing maintenance program to ensure that they are in good condition for residents.

Common Area Details:
The three cottages that make up The Pines contain a variety of common spaces - allowing residents to choose where - and with whom - they spend their time. They have been designed for either 12 or 14 residents and each cottage contains: a fully functioning domestic kitchen at the heart of the cottage where residents can participate in the preparation of fresh food; an open plan lounge and dining area with small tables and a variety of chairs - recliners and lounges; two sunrooms with comfortable lounge chairs and natural light; a parlour for private meetings and a fold-out bed to accommodate family members; two backyard areas with landscaped gardens - barbecues and outdoor furniture; and a domestic laundry. The Pines is single-storey and has no stairs. The facility has an ongoing maintenance program to ensure that it remains in good condition.

Specific Features:
The Pines has been built in line with best practice principles in dementia design - to enhance residents sense of autonomy and dignity. Residents have a clear line of sight to a choice of common areas when they leave their rooms. This also means that staff can unobtrusively keep an eye on residents while they go about their work. All residents have access to secure - outdoor areas and back of house functions - such as deliveries and linen trolleys - are separated from the cottage environment - minimising distraction and confusion for residents. All medication cupboards - stores and clinical equipment including dressings and boxes are stored in staff-only areas to make the cottages feel more like home. Memory boards at the entrance to residents rooms with personal photos that help them identify their rooms.

All residents and their families have access to HammondCares pastoral care service led by an experienced Pastoral Care Coordinator. The pastoral care and support is tailored to meet individual needs and is available to people of all faiths and none. A dedicated team of volunteers provides personalised care and companionship to residents according to their interests and preferences. HammondCare is committed to providing high quality fresh food - with input into menu design from HammondCares experienced Executive Chef and a dietician. HammondCares Dementia Centre supports our care staff with consultancy - training and resources enabling them to provide tailored care to meet the individual needs of residents with dementia.
