Room Description:
The bedrooms at HammondCare Horsley have been designed to minimise confusion and maximise independence and comfort for residents. Each bedroom has a bed with timber finishes and a built-in wardrobe with a lockable drawer and cupboard. While residents are encouraged to bring their own furniture and furnishings with them to personalise their bedrooms - if this is not possible they can be provided with a bedside table and a chair. The bedrooms also have large windows with sheer curtains and block-out drapes - television and landline telephone ports - data points and reverse cycle air-conditioning - a nurse call point by the bed and passive bed monitoring sensors. All the bedrooms in HammondCare Horsley have an ongoing maintenance program to ensure that they are in good condition.

Specific Features:
HammondCare Horsley has been built in line with best practice dementia design to enhance residents sense of autonomy and dignity. All back of house functions - such as deliveries and linen trolleys - are separated from the cottage environment to minimise disruptions to the household. Memory boards with photos are located at the entrance to residents bedrooms to help them identify their private space. To promote independence and minimise confusion - all residents have a direct line of sight from their bed to the toilet - and from the threshold of the bedrooms to common areas. Inside the rooms - door handles on the built-in wardrobes are highlighted to make them easier to identify while the taps in the ensuite bathrooms are colour-coded hot (red) and cold (blue) to minimise confusion.

All residents and their families have access to HammondCares pastoral care service led by an experienced Pastoral Care Coordinator. The pastoral care and support is tailored to meet individual needs and is available to people of all faiths and none. A dedicated team of volunteers provides personalised care and companionship to residents according to their interests and preferences. HammondCare is committed to providing high quality fresh food - with input into menu design from HammondCares experienced Executive Chef and a dietician. HammondCares Dementia Centre supports our care staff with consultancy - training and resources enabling them to provide tailored care to meet the individual needs of residents with dementia.
