The bedrooms at Caulfield Village have been designed to minimise confusion - while maximising independence and comfort for residents with dementia. Residents are encouraged to use their own furniture - soft furnishings and mementos to make their rooms feel familiar and comfortable. If that is not possible - they are provided with a bedside table and a chair. All residents are provided with an adjustable electric bed. Each of the bedrooms at Caulfield Village has a built-in wardrobe - a large window - wall mounted TV - ducted air-conditioning - a nurse call point by the bed and passive room monitoring sensors. All the bedrooms at Caulfield Village have an ongoing maintenance program to ensure that they are in good condition for residents.

Caulfield Village has been built in line with best practice in dementia design - to enhance residents sense of autonomy and dignity. Back of house functions - such as deliveries and linen trolleys - are separated from the cottage environment. Window boxes with photos and personal effects are located at the entrance to residents bedrooms to help them identify their private space. Residents have a direct line of site from their bed to the toilet - promoting independence - and a direct line of sight from threshold of the bedrooms to common areas to assist decision making and to prompt way-finding.
