Room Description:
Perry James Lodge is situated in Victoria Terrace - Moree and was established in 1979 as a 39 bed Hostel. A small number of single rooms at Perry James Lodge are provided with a private ensuite - bedrooms are 11 sq mtrs in size. Rooms are a mix of vinyl and carpeted floors - with painted rendered walls - build in wardrobe and bedside bench - cupboard. All rooms have a window that looks out onto gardens either in the external surrounds or internal courtyards - providing both views and ventilation. Rooms have ducted evaporative cooling and hot water heat banks for the cooler winter months - both are controllable depending on the residents choice. TV points are available and all rooms are installed with Nurse Call points which communicate back to 24 hour nursing staff via pagers and DECT phones. Rooms are fitted to the automatic fire sprinkler system and the entire facility fully compliant with fire protection requirements. Residents are encouraged to bring in personal mementos - bed covers and small pieces of furniture. All rooms are provided with electric high - low beds for resident comfort and provision of personal and nursing care.

The dining area in Perry James Lodge caters for all 38 residents in a spacious - well lit and ventilated room. At 130 sq mtrs in size the dining area overlooks the main internal courtyard and is situated centrally within the facility and adjacent to the main kitchen which provides all meals. Menu choices are made available to all residents and special dietary needs are catered for. This room has new reverse cycle air conditioning providing comfortable conditions all year round. A feature of the dining area is the large exposed timber beams and with recent replacement of vinyl floor coverings and new tables and chairs the area provides a pleasant home like environment. Accessibility is provided for residents with mobility aides. The large space provides for additional settings should relatives or visitors wish to join their loved ones for a meal. Security at Perry James Lodge has been upgraded over the past 12 months. All external doors are secured each night and are monitored by a security system linked to the nurse call alarm. CCTV cameras are installed at strategic locations throughout the facility and monitored at each nurse station. The facility is built on one level providing easy access for any resident with mobility aides. The design of the facility is such that all hallways lead back to the main dining area. A laundry service is provided in house for linen and resident personal clothing. There are vast lawns and gardens providing walking tracks and outdoor seating - the feature of the garden is the 100 year old fountain. Views from the front garden take in the banks of the Mehi River and local botanical garden.

Physiotherapist services are provided on a regular weekly basis to meet the needs of our residents - times are determined by the availability of a local physiotherapist. Podiatry services are provided on a regular monthly basis - services are provided free of charge to those residents classified as requiring High care. Activities are provided by a part time Activities Officer along with various volunteers who attend the facility. Activities are held in the Activities room - along with some events that are jointly held in the Federation Lodge.
